FAQs

  • What do you even do?

Blockhead Wigs produces goods like hairwear and hair enhancements. This includes: wigs, clip on bangs, custom wefts, pre-colored human-hair wigs, pre-styled performance wigs, and more.

  • How do I have something custom made?

We are glad to discuss any project or possible custom hairwear commission with you, but you must either schedule an appointment with our salon, or a salon we partner with, in order to complete a custom-made hairwear purchase.

  • Can I order something from your portfolio?

Please contact us for ordering details.

  • Where can we visit you?

For now, no one gets to see the wizard… not until we open a brick and mortar location.

  • What if I need to be seen?

We keep the service side of hairwear separate from hairwear manufacture, so we unfortunately do not provide services beyond refurbishing a Blockhead Wigs product. For other such services, please make an appointment with our salon subsidiary, or a salon we work closely with.

Since we work closely with other salons and wig professionals as a perruquier, this distinction helps to avoid any possible conflicts of interest when meeting their clients.

  • Can I make an appointment to get my hair done?

If you are looking for in-person services we recommend you request an appointment with our salon subsidiary, JV Hair; there they may provide consultations, fittings, follow up appointments and regular hair cuts and colors for those with hair enhancements.

  • What if I'm out of state (Connecticut)?

The times this may be a problem is if we need specific measurements from you.
We will do what we can to fulfill your requests, but please understand: with distance comes limitations.

  • I want a drag wig, can you style one for me?

As long as there is no customization that depends on your head or hairline shape, yes.

If you are a professional performer please email us for details.

  • What if I need more than one drag wig within a week, for a televized gig during pride?

Unless you are in Connecticut or in the immediate neighboring states, there is little to no way we can provide you with more than one wig and guarantee it makes it to you—especially at the quality we prefer to provide our clients

  • Can I donate my hair to make a wig for someone I love?

This is not as easy as a yes or no answer; in most cases donated hair does not yield enough hair to produce a full adult-sized wig. We can use the hair donated for a piece or use it to replace the front of an existing human hair wig, but most of the time donor hair will need to be mixed with filler hair to produce a full wig.

  • WIll you buy my hair?

On a very rare occasion will we purchase someones hair, but in most cases hair is donated to us for use.

  • How long does it take to make a wig?

Depending on construction it may take up to a year for a fully handmade wig to be completed; for re-fronted wigs between 3-6 months; and styled wigs between 1-3 months.
